Solutions

Closed containment systems involve a barrier between wild and farmed salmon, thereby eliminating some of the most negative impacts of open-net cage salmon farming and significantly reducing others.

Closed, floating systems currently appear to provide the best solution to open net commercial scale salmon farming.

All of CAAR’s campaign work -- from our Coast Mobilization Team, to negotiations with industry and government, to the Smarten Up Safeway campaign, to our work with chefs and retailers and sustainable seafood choices -- supports the shift to closed tank systems.
