Encourage Safeway to take a stand and implement a progressive policy that pushes the salmon farming industry to implement closed containment systems that can better protect wild salmon and ocean health.

As you know from the firsthand experience of your senior staff representative, open net-cage salmon farms are having devastating impacts on wild salmon populations.
I strongly encourage you to make a commitment to stop selling open net-cage farmed salmon and actively encourage your supplies to adopt closed containment production. A policy that makes a commitment such as this would provide a concrete example of Safeway's leadership on environmental issues by taking a large stride towards the protection of wild salmon and ocean health
Such a commitment would be appreciated by the tens of thousands of individuals who are concerned about the impacts of open net-cage salmon farms and the communities that depend on healthy runs of wild salmon and vibrant marine ecosystems.
